ThisVerseFitz 26 – Thessalonians 1 and 2

ThisVerseFitz relating to modern times, in these days we see war and peace in a blink of the eye.

On this twenty-sixth Sunday of 2025, June 29, we enter the books of Thessalonians. Two letters written by Paul, Silvanus and Timothy to the people of Thessolonica.

Each entry of “ThisVerseFitz” has a drawing to go along with the subject. The idea of a church ceiling came up during a church service and a blue wave background was on the screen at the time. While putting the two thoughts on the sketch pad, there was a pull from someone who was recently called home to God. This someone did not see her first day on earth. Francesca was taken a month prior to the day planned for her to enter earth. God had a more important plan for Francesca to fill. Plans are not always made for us to understand or agree with. Our faith tells us that one day we will understand. We will feel much pain and trauma until that day comes. This event makes me think of several parts of scripture. A few are in Thessalonians. One is from 4:16-18, which speaks of the Lord descending to heaven and the chosen ones being caught up with him in the clouds.

1 Thessalonians:

1 Thessalonians 1:2-6 – “We give thanks to God always for all of you constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit. ”

1 Thessalonians 3:6-7 – “But now that timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us the good news of your faith and love and reported that you always remember us kindly and long to see us, as we long to see you – for this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith.”

1 Thessalonians 3:11-13 – “Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you, and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.”

1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 – “For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”

And it is said that the day of his return will be like a thief in the night. Those who are unprepared will not see it coming. As a recovered drinker, the thought of being drunk during Christ’s return often crossed my mind. It was a fear. It no longer is after becoming sober.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-10 – “Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

2 Thessalonians:

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 – Stand Firm – “But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 – “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 – “For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 – “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”

“God Search in Words” works exactly as a normal “Word Search” with a somewhat higher level of difficulty given the Biblical terms. Once all the words are found, the leftover letters repeat a phrase 5.0 times (meaning the phrase is present 5 times and zero letters of the phrase are left over). We call this the “AfterPuzzle”.
