#ThisVerseFitz relating to modern time, modern concerns, warning to pride of nations, God as our Stronghold, the Wicked, Firmament, Ark of the Covenant and Divine Judgement.
On this fourteenth Sunday of 2025, April 6, we enter the book of Psalms. This book is a collection of 150 ancient Hebrew Prayers, Poems and Songs that come from all different times in the history of Israel. 49 of the collection are from anonymous sources and the others are broken down between King David with 73, Asaph with 12, and 16 split between Korah’s sons (Assir, Elkanah, Abiasaph), Heman, Ethan, Solomon and Moses. Psalms is made up of 5 books, Book One: chapters 1 – 41, Book Two: chapters 42 – 72, Book Three: chapters 73 – 89, Book Four: chapters 90 – 106, Book Five: chapters 107 – 150. Psalms 18 – The LORD is My Rock and My Fortress – The Choirmaster. A Psalm of The LORD, who addressed the worlds of this song to the LORD on the day when the LORD rescued him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.
In a recent (3/23), amazing sermon given by a location Pastor, Psalms 18 was mentioned due to the term “Stronghold” and how important it is to recognize God as the Stronghold in your life. “ThisVerseFitz” in these times because God is being called upon more now than in many recent decades. The specific verse is from Psalms 18:2 – “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my Stronghold.”
In addition, other verses jump out when looking up to our Stronghold. Psalms 18:46-49 – “The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation – the God who gave me vengeance and subdued peoples under me, who delivered me from my enemies; yes, you exalted me above those who rose against me; you rescued me from the man of violence. For this I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations, and sing to your name.”
One of our most quoted verses from Psalms is Psalms 19:1 – To The Choirmaster – The Law of the LORD is Perfect – “The heavens declare the glory of God and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” – This variation is from the physical bible that we use in “ThisVerseFitz”. The reason we quote it so often is due to the fact that a very well known German aerospace engineer who peddled mainstream ideology for decades had it on his tombstone. When you link his career and the firmament, much more is revealed. There are many parts of the bible, especially in Genesis that point out the actual build of the earth. This verse is just one more to add to the long list. Here is the verse from another version of the scriptures: Psalms 19:1 – “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmaments showeth His handiwork.”
Firmament
Of all the Psalms, Psalms 23 is probably the most famous. The LORD Is My Shepherd – A Psalm of David – Psalm 23: 1-6 – “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
We actually quoted 23:4 when doing a tribute for our General back in December, 2020.

As in Psalms 18 above, another Psalm mentions our Stronghold. Psalm of David – Psalms 27:1-3 – “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.” Psalms 27 has many uplifting verses and continues into Psalms 28 of David, “The LORD is My Strength and My Shield”
To the Choirmaster; According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David – My Soul Waits for God Alone – Psalms 62:1-6 – “For God alone my soul waits in silence, from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.”
Psalms 73 falls under the “ThisVerseFitz” umbrella as it points out the wicked in some detail. The same wicked of modern times and a bridge into Proverbs which is ironically the book after Psalms and the book we chose to review next week. Psalms 73:3-15 – “For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For they have no pangs until death; their bodies are fat and sleek. They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind. Therefor pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment. Their eyes swell out through fatness; their hearts overflow with follies. They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression. They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth. Therefore his people turn back to them. And they say, “How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?” Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches. All in vain have I kept my heart clean and washed my hands in innocence. For all the day long I have been stricken and rebuked every morning. If I had said, “I will speak thus,” I would have betrayed the generation of your children.
Wicked – Proverbs 13:9
The wicked are enamored with their false idols. We see this more than ever in today’s pop culture. Psalms speaks of these evils and false idols. One example of this is in Psalms 97:7-10 – “All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods! Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of your judgements, O LORD. For you, O LORD, are most high over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. O you who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.”
A verse for the wicked liars, the deceitful changing creation (Psalms 19:1 for example) – I Will Walk With Integrity – A Psalm of David – Psalms 101:7 – No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.
The wicked are war mongers. God’s people are for peace. Psalms 120 Deliver Me, O LORD – A Song of Ascents – In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. Deliver me O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, you deceitful tongue? A warriors sharp arrows, with glowing coals of the broom tree! Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace. I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war!
Last week in Exodus, we mentioned The Ark of the Covenant since there has been reports that it is not “missing” as it was suggested to be over the centuries. So essentially, ThisVerseFitz” in today’s atmosphere. The ark of the covenant is referred to in Psalms 132 – The LORD has chosen Zion – A Song of Ascents – Remember, O LORD, in David’s favor, all the hardships he endured, how he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One Jacob, “I will not enter my house or get into my bed, I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. “Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool!” Arise, O LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your saints shout for joy. For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.” For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: “This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread. Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy. There I will make a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.”
A last mention of the wicked and their idols. The wicked become as useless as their idols. Psalms 135:15-18 – “The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them become like them, so do all that trust in them.
Someone may need to hear this, I did: Perhaps we would still feel the way the writers of the Psalms (especially 18, 27 & 119) felt if our minds were not corrupted and manipulated over time.

God Search in Words” works exactly as a normal “Word Search” with a somewhat higher level of difficulty given the Biblical terms. Once all the words are found, the leftover letters repeat a phrase 4.6 times (meaning the phrase is present 4 times and 6 letters of the phrase are left over). We call this the “AfterPuzzle”
